“El Vigilante” – One Mean Hummingbird

This guy is so territorial and violent, but so funny….We named him “El Vigilante” because he keeps watch all the time, brutally and unrelentingly attacking and chasing off all the other hummingbird that try to drink from the feeder he has evidently claimed as his own.

Recently, El Vigilante discovered the cords of our hammock, which is near the feeder, and he has decided it is a MUCH cooler place to hang out than in the rhododendrons with all the other (read: dorkier and less interesting) hummers.
